Early action decisions begin returning to applicants from universities on December 15 -- and obviously, today is December 13, which means they will be sent out in practically no time at all.

Is anyone else expecting decisions in the mail?

Now that my neighbor has returned from the Warbucks Château, it is time for me to make my exit for a few days and rejoin my family in New York for a few days of my Thanksgiving break.

Enjoy your holiday.

PRIVATE. COMPOSED IN FRENCH. )

Early action applications for universities in the United States are due by November 1, which is little more than two weeks away.

But, in filling these applications out, I do wonder: is there any point in going to all of this trouble if schools find excuses to turn down or retract acceptances from people of our kind?

More than anything else, I suppose this experience makes me wonder how my siblings might react to being powerless, if they had the benefit of being here.

I suppose this news means that the city will be tearing itself apart in sheer ecstasy for God knows how long.

So with -- the fire, does that mean the university will be closed down, and if so, for how long? I imagine they have all sorts of repairs to do.

Enough with the chatter about z-list celebrity mutant gossip, and onto a more practical question. How many Advanced Placement exams are people planning to take this May?

Fairly drowning in Godiva, so exorbitantly expensive chocolate is free to a good home today. Simply knock on my door if interested.

I lied. Out of the hotel for the week of my spring break. Back by next Monday at the latest.

I haven't the slightest idea what the arrangements are for public school, but my school has scheduled the beginning of their spring break for next Saturday.

I'm aware that this throws a wrench into people's plans to desecrate my room when I'm away, as per usual. And I am so very sorry to spoil such fun. But be that as it may, I think the usual suspects should be made aware: taking into consideration the fact that the break is only a few days long, I've decided to forgo the jetlag involved in a trip back to Manhattan to deal with my family and simply stay here on my days off.

Think of it as me sparing you the trouble. My early Easter gift from me to you.

This is the first February I've ever spent in the United States.

That said, while it is something that we celebrate at home and in other places where we've lived, I simply can't help but find the level of commercialization for the upcoming Valentine's holiday absolutely appalling.

Though delayed several days by a combination of inclement weather and family demands, I am once again at the hotel.

I certainly am relieved that I wasn't around for whatever happened to cause such a fuss about everyone being exposed.

But speaking of absences, I should like to make sure I inform everyone that I will be leaving once the semester ends. Instead of going home the way we normally do, my father has been taken with a notion that our family should get the opportunity to experience Christmas in the United States at least once, and further insists that our family should have this experience together. As such, I will be catching a flight to Manhattan on the 24th.

I don't anticipate any, but in the event that there is business I need to know about before I leave or anything that people would like to discuss with me, I would prefer to know now as opposed to later. The weather on Christmas Eve is supposed to be awful, and airports are always awful. Given those two considerations, I certainly do not need the added stress of a last-minute request to compound the ordeal.
